The Story of Halo
Meet Halo!! The original painting was actually inspired by a sweet little girl named Rachel. She was adopted by her mom and dad in the summer of 2018. The following was written to me in an email from Rachel's mom. After I read their story, I had goosebumps and knew that I needed to paint this darling girl. If you're needing a feel-good story, this is it!
"While waiting for the call, I put on the Apple playlist for Peter Katz. He was a favourite Canadian singer songwriter of ours. A song came on that we had never heard him sing before (even though we thought we knew them all).) It was the song, “Halo” (by Beyoncé)…..the lyrics were absolutely perfect and captivating. I played it a few more times and we just listened. About an hour later the phone rang….it was the agency. They gave us the news that the baby was ours, that it was a girl and that she was healthy and waiting for us in Orlando, Florida. We had sent in names for a boy or girl the day before; but since her birthmother was being discharged she had to name her before she left. We asked what she named her. They said, “Halo Nicole.” This was the moment we knew we were meant to be together and an overwhelming sense of peace came over us."
